What happens to pesticides when you wash them off of your fruits and vegetables?

The same thing that happens to the pesticides that wash out of the soil as they’re being grown– they run into the water table and back into the ocean.

Actually, with water from the sink, it would run through a water treatment plant, thus making most pesticides hopefully break up.

There is also a lot of pesticide residue that doesn’t wash off, but instead is absorbed into the skin of the fruit or vegetable. Here is a list of fruits and vegetables notorious for absorbing pesticide chemicals.
