Nitrogen is a necessary element in our bodies, and we obtain it through various proteinaceous foods like meat and milk. When nitrogen enters your body through food, the digestive process breaks everything down and removes the nitrogen from the food to help your body grow. Presumably, since protein goes towards muscle growth and repair, that’s also the role that nitrogen plays in the body because protein is a common source of nitrogen.
