What happens to all the pills that my grandma takes every day?

The medications that people take eventually end up in the water system, which ends up, ultimately, in the environment. According to an article on medications in the water supply, “Flushing medication down the toilet is an easy way to dispose of expired and leftover pills or liquid medicine. But what many don’t realize is that this method of medicine disposal is potentially harmful to the environment.” Of course, medication should always be taken according to doctor’s orders. It is important that humans be well, too. However, when there is leftover or expired medication, it is best not to add it to the water system.
