What happens to all the materials from old buildings that get demolished?

There are several options for old buildings that have been demolished. In some cashes, the old materials are taken to a dump like any other trash. In others, material from these buildings can be recycled and reclaimed to other exisiting products, reducing the demands on the dumps and the need for virgin materials. LEED projects can earn points by reclaiming local reusable materials.
