A handfish is an endangered marine fish from Australia that is known for using its fins to walk along the ocean floor. Its fins resemble hands, hence the name.
These are a really cool bunch of fish. They are bottom dwellers who look like they are just lazy. Instead of really swimming, they use their fins to walk along the ocean floor. They are native to the waters around Australia, but an introduced species of starfish harshly affected their population. Their numbers dropped so that between 1990 and 1994 only two of these little guys were spotted. Thankfully, their populations has made slight rise.
