Though they get better gas milage than cars, motorcycles can also be up to ten times polluting per mile. Companies such as Zero Motorcycles and Brammo are now offering electric motorcycles, although most larger manufacturers are currently putting most of their efforts into prototype hybrid and hydrogine fuel cell bikes.
Motorcycle.com named the Brammo Enertia the best electric motorcycle. Much of the bike is made from recycled materials, and the Enertia itself can be recycled. The 100% electric motorcycle costs a little less than $8,000. The company reports the motorcycle gets 40+ miles per charge in urban commuting. The Enertia Plus Electric Motorcycle would be a step up from the Brammo Enertia with 80+ miles per charge in urban commuting.
