There was a new mall in Chicago called Green Exchange that was supposed to open in 2008. Their website is under construction, but the mall itself was supposed to have “an organic restaurant and café, a sustainable furniture store, a green building supply company, an eco-friendly printer, architects and designers focused on sustainability, an environmentally-friendly clothing company, a car-sharing service, a bike shop, and more.” It would also have a courtyard garden and a green roof. In the parking lot, there would be outlets for people to plug-in and charge their hybrids. The building itself is a renovated former lamp factory and aims to achieve LEED-Silver status.
