The Green My Apple campaign was started by GreenPeace a couple years ago. Despite Apple not being the largest computer supplier it is seen as one of the most cutting-edge. The campaign was very effective and has led the company to stop using certain hazardous materials, including Brominated Fire Retardants (BFRs) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) in 2008. The company also removed arsenic and mercury from its displays in 2008, and recycles all Apple products in North America, in North America (not shipping e-waste overseas).
The company has taken a number of steps to reduce materials used in packaging and really has a lot of information about their efforts to green their company. They also recently left the Chamber of Commerce because the chamber is resisting legislative efforts to green business.
