Over the next ten years, President Obama has promised that 5 million green jobs will become available. The only question is, what are they?
Well, some of them stem from a report by the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Making adjustments to current buildings and electrical grids, speeding up development of solar power, wind power, and biofuel, and widening the sprawl of public transit were listed as priorities.
The answer to your question is construction and manufacturing, as we “fix” buildings and make them green requires exactly this kind of work. Supplying and retail would also be a large chunk of job opportunities as well.
So, as we go green, 2 million jobs like these, according to the study, will appear within two years.
One area that I think we are going to see a huge increase in green jobs in the next few years is building the high speed rail system.
