Out here in the west, the best time to go white water rafting is in the spring after the winter rains. This is usually March through June. The temperatures are a little cooler, but everything is green and lush. The summer can make for exciting rafting as well, as lower water levels require more navigation. Some rivers open up dam reservoirs on certain weekends, making for good rafting in warm temperatures, although trip seem to be more crowded. You can raft all the way through the fall, giving you different experiences even on the same river.
