    Glucose is also known as D-glucose, dextrose or grape sugar is a simple sugar.  It is also an important carbohydrate in biology because cells use it as the primary source of energy and as a metabolic intermediate.  Additionally, glucose is one of the main products of photosynthesis and starts cellular respiration.
