Germany, like much of Europe, has made large strides to reduce energy consumption and be more environmentally friendly. Since 2000, the have grown to use about 15 percent renewable energy, mainly through wind and solar power sources. Along with increasing Research and Development by more than 400 percent, Germany entered and European Agreement to, as a continent reach 22 percent renewable energy by 2010.
