The youngest galaxy found is I Zwicky 18, so it is composed mostly of young stars.  It is only 500 million years old (so young, right?), but compared to our Milky Way galaxy at 12 billion years old, it is very young.  12 billion is the average age of the galaxies in our universe.  It will allow scientists to study how galaxies evolve.
