Estimates by the International Energy Agency (IEA) dictate that solar energy will provide half of the world’s electricity supply by 2050. Currently, solar power only provides 0.5% of the worlds energy, but IEA predictions also estimate that solar power will become competitive with coal and nuclear energy by 2030. The development of solar energy hinges greatly on the efficiency of solar panels and upfront costs for insulation. As they solar panel become more efficient and less costly, expect to see them catch on in a big way.
