What is the furthest star from earth?

Unfortunately, we will never be able to know! The universe is infinitely big, and expanding. However, the important part is that we can only see part of the universe. It takes a certain amount of time for light to reach us. The universe is about 14.6 billion years old, so the furthest away we can see is 14.6 billion light years, and that’s how it looked 14.6 billion years ago, if that makes sense (since then, the light has been traveling to reach us.)

So outside of that range, (not even counting the strength of our telescopes!) there are probably billions of stars, all extremely far from Earth!
