    Tsunamis are the answer to your question. When an earthquake happens on the west coast of the USA, there is a Tsunami alert in Asia. That is because the force of the ground shaking, radiates outward and this causes a wave to form on the west coast of the USA and it will travel, growing bigger, to the other side of the ocean. It can happen in either direction. The tallest Tsunami recorded was 1700 feet tall. Imagine that coming at you! The link below has great information about these waves.
