Fracking or hydraulic fracturing refers to a process which allows natural gas companies to extract more gas from the earth. By injecting chemicals and water deep in the earth small fractures are created in rocks wich allows natural gas to escape. However, residents near these fracking sites often complain it ruins their water wells or contaminates their water with these chemicals.
Fracking is a nickname for hydraulic fracturing. This is the act of using hydraulics to fracture rocks. It is being used to remove the natural gas deposits that can be found in shale rock in places like northern Texas, Colorado to Wyoming. The EPA is afraid of the repercussions of destroying earth to attain natural gas.
