Has to do with science and structures
Ice Skates would most likely be considered a type of Mass Structure.
Do you mean how the form of ice skates work? The skating part has to to with the blades themselves. The blades of an ice skate are designed with a tiny hollow in between the blades, about 1/2 an inch deep.
When you are skating, the two edges of the blade create a small layer of water on the edge of the blade, which allows you to glide. Essentially, you are hydroplaning, like you would with a car, but in a much more controlled manner.
