What is forest mapping?

Forest mapping creates a map of an environmental area, usually with high resolution satellite imaging, in order to paint a picture of the current state of the area. This can be done in both a wild setting as well as an urban one. The resulting image is digitized so scientists can analyze greenery in the surrounding areas and compare them to other sites.
