What is a forest carbon market?

The forest carbon market is a way for companies to be carbon neutral.  It is designed so that companies pay money for the pollution they create by buying forests or planting new ones in order to sequester carbon.  Land is bought and preserved or even reforested in an attempt to reduce carbon in the atmosphere.  This functions as any other market would when the demand is created for the land and prices start to fluctuate.
