    Food cooperatives are basically worker or customer owned businesses that provide groceries of high quality and very low prices to their members. They can either be local grocery stores or buying clubs and get most of their produce from family farms.

    All food coops are committed to consumer education, product quality, and member control. They also usually support their local communities by selling produce grown locally by family farms. Food cooperatives are usually consumers’ cooperatives and are owned by their members. It is a cooperative business owned by its customers for their mutual benefit. They are more oriented toward service rather than pecuniary profit.
