The foam is made from organic solvents such as hexylene glycol, foam stabilizers like lauryl alcohol, and corroision inhibitors.  There are two classifications of the foam, A and B.  Class A foam lowers the surface tension of water.  Class B foams are used for fires of flammable materials.
