Flourine, in various compound forms, is added to toothpaste to help fight cavaties. Flourine is also used for general anesthetics, positron emission topography, in anti-reflective coating, for plasma etching, to etch glass, in the production of freon, to obtain pure uranium, in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, in the electrolysis of aluminum, in broad spectrum antibiotics and to make sulfur hexafluoride.
