    THe fish with the highest levels of mercury are Tilefish and shark. Tilefish and shark may have up to 1.45 and .99 ppm (parts per million) mercury respectively. This is because the mercury accumulates up the food chain, with each trophic level getting more and more.  The fish with the most mercury that is most often consumed by humans is canned light tuna, with .12 ppm.
