The Royal Empress Tree, native to China but now common in parts of the United States, is the fastest growing tree in the world at a rate of 10-15 feet per year. Traditionally, in China, when girl is born an Empress Tree (or Princess Tree) is planted, because it matures at the same rate as the woman. When the woman married, the tree was used to build her a wedding chest.
