What is the Farmers’ Market Program?

The term “farmers’ market” is a somewhat loosely defined phrase used to refer to places where you can buy locally produced food, often grown using organic methods and sold directly by the farmers responsible for growing it.  Many cities around the country have established farmers’ market programs that open designated streets or other areas to farmers wishing to sell their produce at certain times.  Farmers’ markets are growing in popularity, and with good reason.  Shopping at a farmers’ market is one of the best possible ways to find sustainably grown with a minimum carbon footprint.  It is also a great way to ensure that your spending practices support the local economy and nearby farmers.
