Walruses and Seals are both members of the Pinniped superfamily (pinnipedia; lat. pinni – wing + ped – foot). A superfamily is a group of families, and individually, walruses are in the Odobenidae (walrus) family, and seals are in the Otariidae (fur seals and sea lions) and Phocidae (true seals) families.
The Stellar sea lion of the western U.S., Hawaiian monk seal, Mediterranean monk seal, and Saimaa seal are all listed as endangered/depleted species. Check out the link below for more information.
