Walruses and Seals are both members of the Pinniped superfamily (pinnipedia; lat. pinni – wing + ped – foot).  A superfamily is a group of families, and individually, walruses are in the Odobenidae (walrus) family, and seals are in the Otariidae (fur seals and sea lions) and Phocidae (true seals) families.
