What factors lead to the formation of rain forests?

Today’s rain forests were formed at the end of the last ice age, about 12-15000 years ago. The warm temperatures between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn were necessary to the forests formation. Secondly, heavy rains, coming off the coasts of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans helped bring the water needed to sustain all the life of the rain forests.
