There are many factors to consider in food safety since there are many things which can contaminate food. Proper handling and sanitary practices are essential to food safety. Where, and at what temperatures food is stored affect the bacteria which the food is exposed to and which subsequently may or may not grow on said food. Already cooked food should be stored separately from raw foods as well.
