The process of irradiation involves treating some foods with ionizing radiation in an effort to kill pathogens, such as, Salmonella and prevent foodborne illnesses while at the same time increase the shelf life of fresh perishables. All types of food can be irridiated, such as, meat, grain, fruit, vegetables and perishable foods. To answer your question, non-irridiated food is any food that has not gone through the irridiation process.
