Ethanol is also known as grain alcohol. Chemically and in purer form, fuel ethanol is identical to the alcohol we drink. It’s mixed with another chemical (usually gasoline) that renders it undrinkable, and is used as fuel.
Ethanol comes from one of these three raw material groups:
-starchy crops, such as corn
-sugary crop, like fruit or sugarcane
-cellulosic plants, such as trees or wild grasses
