What exactly does a LEED inspector do?

LEED inspectors simply investigate buildings to see if they are up to LEED standards for certification. They make sure the proper materials are used for building, energy consumption is at certain levels and that alternative energy is being used to its fullest capacity. LEED certification provides a third party certification that proves a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality (from USGBC).
