The Everglades Land Deal is a plan by the Florida government to buy 72,000 acres of land from the U.S. Sugar Corporation for $356 million. The land sits between Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades. Buying it would allow water flow to the Everglades to be restored. Unfortunately, the state’s financial problems make purchasing the land difficult. As of now the purchase is under review by the Florida Supreme Court.
