    According to the European Wind Energy Association, Germany and Spain had the highest windpower capacity in the European Union at the end of 2009.  Germany generated at 25,777 megawatts of windpower and Spain was at 19,149 megawatts.  In 2009, Spain installed more windpower capacity at 2,459 megawatts while Germany installed 1,197 megawatts.

    Germany has the most wind power.  At the end of 2009, Germany had the wind power capacity of 25,777 MW of energy.  When used as electricity, this converts to 37,500 gWh of electricity produced in Germany.
