An estuary is a place where a river or stream flows into the ocean, mixing fresh water and salt water.
Estuaries are partially enclosed bodies of water where fresh water and salt water mix. Some examples of estuaries are San Francisco Bay, Boston Harbor, and Tampa Bay. Estuaries tend to have some of the most unique and diverse plants and animals.
