What is the Erie plain’s ecosystem like?

There is a reef in the Erie plains that was formed by the shore cliffs that collapsed over the lake, and around the reef there are flat areas formed of clay which is blue in color. There are two main forms of plant life growing at the bottom of the lake, and these are: a. the laison and b. the long stalk algae Cladophora. Both ecosystems have been changing over time and a more detailed report of what is to be found there lies in this helpful account I found by an independent researcher who describes in it almost poetic terms: http://home.centurytel.net/lakeerieecosystem/Introduction.html
