Environmental consciousness is exactly what it sounds like, it is being conscious about the environment. Though that is not completely it, a large part of it is being aware of the situation, but keeping it in mind and a factor when making decisions is the real key. So basically it is striving for knowledge and being aware that there are real environmental concerns and using that knowledge when and wherever possible.
An example would be using better packing materials when you have to ship something. The knowledge that normal packing materials are generally bad. So in lieu of those things you make decisions like saving up old newspaper, or cardboard boxes, or buy the new biodegradable packing peanuts. You would be showing environmental consciousness in knowing that regular materials were bad, knowing that you can use other more friendly materials, and making use of the superior materials.
