Environmental accounting is where a corporation takes into account not only the costs a product or service has on the company, but also looks at how it impacts society and the environment. Basically, it allows a company to look beyond themselves, and ensure they are not implementing anything that would cause damage to others outside the company. Many businesses use this as a way to find ways to better relate to the community, and put in place policies and safety measures that make them look better in the eyes of the public.
