The Encyclopedia of Life is a free online encyclopedia that according to the website intends to “create a reference source and database for every one of the 1.8 million species named and known on the planet.” The information is taken from existing databases along with contributions from current experts and non-experts. Although anyone can add to it if they are a member, submissions are reviewed by curators to ensure the content is appropriate in the authoritative EOL database. Visit it at http://www.eol.org/
