In theory, Esperanto is the easiest language to learn, but it is an artificially created language and not particularly wide spread. You can find information about the benefits and drawbacks of many different languages by using this comparative table of languages: http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/e/languages/index.html . Practically speaking, Spanish is the most widespread and populous language after English, as well as being very similar, and many view it as straightforward, logical, and relatively grammatically simple.

it is different for every culture.  Here in America it is easier for us to learn English and Spanish. This is because we grow up hearing these sounds and can pick up on meanings much easier. However, if you grow up in an Asian country it will be easier for you to learn languages that you hear there all the time. Same with a nation like Germany.  There is is easier for them to pick up on languages like Swedish because the dialect is similar.

It’s also easier to learn languages that use the same alphabet as your native language. English speakers have an easier time learning a language like French rather than, say, Russian or Hindi, because they don’t have to learn a whole new alphabet along with it.
