The easiest and cheapest method of organic farming, although it is quite labor intensive, is hand picking. Simply walk through your field and kill any bugs you see. Another method is using products like row covers, pop-up nets, and super-hoops. These products cover the plants so bugs can’t reach them, yet sunlight and water can.
A third method is using certain plants to ward off particular bugs. For example, grasshoppers stay away from cilantro. Along similar lines, lady bugs, praying mantis, and toads keep many pesky insects away too.
