Earth Hour is a global World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) yearly event held on the last Saturday of March. Participating households and businesses turn off non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness on climate change.
Earth Hour started as a movement for people across the world to shut off their lights and other electricity-using technologies for one hour as a symbolic “vote for Earth” over climate change. 80 million Americans participated in Earth Hour 2009 on March 28th, and many cities also pledged their support.
