What early civilization abused nature the most?

    This is one of those questions that keeps coming up. How early are we talking about? Nature didn’t really start to be damaged irrepairably until the industrial revolution which is fairly recent in terms of time. A lot of people want to say Egypt was wasteful because of the pyramids, but many of the quarries used then are still in use today. Perhaps the Roman empire with its large scale monumental architecture and aquaduct system. It certainly changed the landscape. Nature has reclaimed much of these things, unlike many of the synthetics we use today that cannot be.
