Duckweeds are the smallest flowering plants. They grow floating in still or slow-moving fresh water, except in very cold areas of the world. They are high-protein plants that are able to grow extremely rapidly. Duckweed is a favorite among researchers in studying “basic plant development, plant biochemistry, photosynthesis, the toxicity of hazardous substances, and much more.”
