Vitamin C is water soluble unlike many other vitamins that are fat soluble.  Water soluble vitamins that are not absorbed are excreted in urine.  This creates few problems when excess vitamin C is taken into the body.  Fat soluble vitamins that are not absorbed are stored in fat cells.  This poses a problem for the liver and kidneys.
