    The United Nations Environment Programme is an organization that attempts to increase awareness about things like global warming, managing ecosystems and minimizing resource depletion. Their mission statement is “To provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.”  They provide support, education and ideas for helping everything from people, to businesses to nations become more green, and award those that are making strides toward sustainability

    They help coordinate United Nations environmental activities, assisting developing countries in implementing environmentally sound policies and practices. UNEP is the designated authority of the United Nations in environmental issues at the global and regional level. Their mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and brining emerging issues to the attention of governments.
