The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a corporation owned by the US Government.  It came out of President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” in 1933.  It provides power and other environmental services to Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia.  It is entirely self-suffecient, meaning it receives no tax payer dollars.
