The #5 on a plastic recyclable package means the plastic contains PP or polypropylene which needs to be melted at high temperatures to be reused. Not all recycling centers recycle #5 products (for example the ones in my hometown). It is used for medicine containers, ketchup etc. It is becoming more common for #5 products to be recycled however you should double check to see if the recycling services in your town accept them.
