When you are trying to persuade someone to care about the environment (or anything else for that matter) the most important thing is to keep in mind your audience and what their original opinions are towards the environment. Someone who is not interested in helping the environment at all may be most affected by a statistic while someone who is a little more inclined to care about the environment may be better called into action by seeing a graphic image or reading someone’s personal story. This is why photographs of wildlife affected by oil spills are released to the public. If you want to increase your ability to persuade people, many colleges offer courses in communication or public speaking.
