The pandaca pygmea is one of the smallest fish by mass in the world and also one of the shortest. It has a maximum length of 1.1 cm for males and 1.5 cm for females. It has 7 dorsal spines and 6-7 dorsal soft rays, 1 anal spine, and 6-7 anal soft rays. It has dark spots on its body that form 4 cross bands. Also it has heavy pigmentation at the bases of most fins except the ventral.
To add to richardfisher, a pandaca pygmea is almost transparent in appearance. Even though it is a very small type of fish, they have strong mouths and jaws. There average scale range is usually in the 20s.
